Agree or disagree: Is North Park the "hippest hood" in San Diego? If you don't think it is, which neighborhood do you think best deserves that title?
Yes, it is a HOOD. Interesing place to visit, but would not want to live there. Too many weirdos and crime. Bar your windows.

What kinds of weirdos, exactly?

I lived on 29th and Dwight for a couple years. It was OK. There are a lot of wandering crackheads around. I don't think it's the 'hood though... just near the 'hood.

I live in the "hood." I don't have bars on my windows or doors, and neither do any of my neighbors. When it's warm outside, I have all my windows open, and they have screens on them. It's actually very quiet, especially at night, and all I hear are the police helicopters flying overhead.

Other than the fact that the parking sucks, we have very few problems.

i've lived in sd since 85. most places off university or el cajon, especially around 55th are pretty much the ghetto. el cajon blvd is notorious for hookers. notice every shop around on el cajon blvd in north park, university city, talmadge have bars on the windows? theres a reason for that.

About half of ESD maybe a little more is "hood" in my book. But other places are better and worse

As B.Park winning that award?Really?Seriously?I would have thoght little Itly,E.Village,Hillcrest,Mission Vly,Gaslamp(Downtown) to beat out N.Park.

I'll add to my above post. I live in North Park behind North Park Produce. I think that's the City Heights border.

Yeah
But I consider N.Park ESD because all of the people I know(that don't live up there) tell me that.

It's not considered ESD. ESD is east of 35th street or the 805 freeway.
