San Diego-Tijuana to bid for hosts of 2016 Summer Olympics? (hotel, colleges)

I read from this website artice dated December 2003 that one of San Diego's civic leaders, the governor of Baja california, and the president of the IOC said that they were all "very much interested" in the idea of San Diego and Tijuana both sharing the hosting rights to the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Yeah, it's an old article and the chances of it acutally happening are slim, but If by chance that San Diego and Tijuana decide to submit a joint bid, and in the off chance that they are selected, what would you think of it?

While a San Diego - Tijuana Olympic games would be pretty neat...

Pros:

A fair amount of the athletic infrastructure is already in place. Not all by any means, but some.

There is a good supply of dormitory housing available at local colleges

There is a good supply of hotel space for visitors.

The weather is ideal.

The Time Zone for the US and European media markets would allow for more live broadcasts in prime time in those markets with the most advertising dollars.

Cons:

Which city would get top billing? And would the other city be ok with that?

The housing for athletes would be spread out among the various colleges. There would be no athletic village.

Crossing the border by visitors would be a major hassle.

A joint bid would create divided and chaotic management.

And San Diego doesn't have the money. Not now, and not for decades.


A joint bid would cause too many rivalries and jeaolousies between the cities.

All i know is that we don't need any more tourist
find somewhere else to have your olympics
