Hello, I've recently relocated from Orange County to San Diego and I am looking for a good sushi restaurant in the North County area (primarily Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar areas). My favorite place in Orange County was Sushi on Fire in Huntington beach, great food at reasonable prices. Does anyone have any favorites in the North County coastal area? Thanks!

Tomika in Encinitas (Best Western) pretty good. Edamame by Torrey Pines State Park beach is good. Neither are very excellent.

I don't eat sushi, but my raw-fish-eating friends all rave about Kaito Sushi in Encinitas. I've seen in mentioned on chowhound.com and those people are pretty elitist when it comes to food, not to mention sushi. So I guess it comes highly recommended.

We went to the place in Del Mar over the weekend. It's right behind Il Fornaio in the plaza. It was pretty good but a little expensive but you definitely got A LOT for your money. We went to Masuo's in Solana Beach and we definitely liked it. We used to live in OC and we absolutely loved a sushi place in Laguna Beach. The only thing to be in the same class was Nobu at the hard rock but that cost us an arm and a leg.

Not quite coastal north county but Katsu located in San Marcos' restaurant row is excellent. The two kind tuna roll & teacher roll are incredible. Not sure if the teacher roll is on the menu but you can just ask for it. You will not regret it!

There's also a very good sushi place in Encinitas but I can't recall the name now. It is located in the same shopping center as Trader Joes, on the Encinitas Blv side of the shopping center.

I think it's called Mister Sushi.
