After having some difficulty finding a 3 bedroom house for under 3500 in Coronado, we are considering Point Loma now. How does it compare and what is it like? Any advice??
Thanks!!
Shelly

3500 what?
Do you mean $350,000?Sorry, you can't even find a shack around SD for $3500
lol
Pt LMA is one of SD's best sections.A little congested but i think it is worth it
A little hard to get in and out of there but it has it's own stores, schools and anything else a section would need

I think he's renting.

Point Loma is more integrated into the city than Coronado. Ocean Beach to the South and Loma Portal / Midway is a dense residential and commercial corridor and is kind of dumpy like most of SD's commercial corridors. There is a large military presence in and around the MCRD.

The best neighborhoods in Point Loma are south of the flight path, which is about Narragansett ave. On the west side this is the Sunset Cliffs Neighborhood and on the east side the neighborhoods are called Fleetridge and La Playa. These ares are both very wealthy and quiet with amazing views of the ocean on the west side and the city of SD on the east.

for 3500 you should do much better in PL than you would in Coronado. Schools are good and PL High is still a pretty good HS as far as they go in SD.

Thanks for the info. And yes, I was talking about renting for 3500, not buying! We're still researching where to live and I am glad I can check out this board for advice!
