Default Vehicle Property Tax?

I've been searching around trying to find the motor vehicle property tax rate for San Diego county and I'm not finding it anywhere. Does anyone know what it is?

Thanks.

Do you mean the vehicle registration fee or the property tax rate? The vehicle registration fee is set by the state and is determined on a sliding scale based upon the value of your car & its year of production while the property tax rate is set by each city or county government and so is different all over the state. San Diego tends to have very low property tax rates percentage wise but the value of the homes is much higher then other areas so even though it is among the lowest property tax rates for large American cities the absolute value can be higher. It's a fixed percentage leveed yearly based upon the most recent sale price of the property in question. People who have lived in the same house for decades end up getting a virtual free ride while young people and first time home buyers end up being forced to pick up the slack for the corporations and older folks.

As Oerdin says the Vehicle Property Tax is set by the state and is dependent upon the age and value of your car. Other than that figure which will be the same throughout the state, the County of San Diego tacks on $5 extra each year. It might be $7 or $10 now, perhaps... just guessing.

Yes, I was wanting to know about Property Tax as opposed to Registration fees. In the county where I currently reside, it is based upon the school district you live in, but they range from 6.5% to 8%. I was wondering if anyone knew the range in San Diego Co.
