Default Airport: Long Beach vs San Diego

Which one would you say is better to fly in and out of?
Out of Chicago, JetBlue only flies in to Long Beach.
So if one was looking for a cheap fare, is better
to fly in to LB or through Expedia and fly to San Diego?

From either airport it would be the same destination: Oceanside/Carlsbad area.

Landing in San Diego makes more sense, all because Oceanside/Carlsbad is in the vicinity. Plus the commute would be a hell of a lot shorter.

Figure how much extra the flight from Long Beach to San Diego plus the drive up to Oceanside vs. a straight shot from Long Beach to Oceanside.

The drive from Long Beach to Oceanside would be a longer drive though.

Have you looked into John Wayne airport in Orange County? It's closer to your destination than Long Beach.

Flying American from Dallas, I usually find that the price to LAX or John Wayne is quite low, while the price into San Diego is $100 more.

Plus renting a car at John Wayne is a dream compared to SD and LAX - I've always been able to get on the shuttle bus and get a car right away, no line. Even at Christmas!
