University Ave, North Park

around the 30th St area. It's near Beauty Supply's, which mainly has black hair products.

I've been to CA Fresh
It is really ghetto but I didn't like how they cut
No one seemed to be able to "cut against the grain"
And they did a bad job and I mean bad job on a simple fade. That was back in 2006 though.Maybe they improved?

I have taken my son to Gene at N the Cut Barbershop since he was 2. He is now a freshman in college and still goes. All of the barbers there are skilled. Gene also is the barber to a few of the Chargers and Padres. Check them out!

I've found this "we gotta go to black/spanish barbers"...to be true.. and its always bothered me some how.. a barber ought to be a barber just like a mechanic ought to be able to work on Fords AND Chevy's..

None the less.. its true

With respect to racism.. San Diego has been pretty neutral. I came here back in the 70's and was warned not to go out to lakeside or santee... Now days.. I go line dancing out there all the time.. I get a couple of off looks.. mostly cuz I cant dance!

Sad isn't it.. a black man that cant dance

Definitely true, and why I learned to cut my own hair a long time ago after being hacked up by a few barbers. I cut my son's hair also, but we may have to go check out Gene at N the cut

To be honest guys, the best barbers tend to be Black or Hispanic. I've gotten my hair cut by 3 white guys before, and one of them effed up my head really bad, it was uneven, the line up was off in the front, the back wasn't blended in smoothly with the top. I got super pissed and didn't leave him a tip.

But yeah you gotta go to the hood barber shops to get the best cutterz.

Actually the latest one that I go to now on a weekly basis is in Parkway Plaza Mall.

It's called "Fresh Up", these dudes are mixture of different races, some black, but mostly Hispanic dudes that got serious talent, and I have never had a bad cut since I started going there last year, all my cuts have been straight.

Also the owner at the shop does cuts for some of the Charger players. I met Ryan Mathews there twice when I was waiting for my cut Antonio Garay and O Lineman Luis Vazquez.

They got Fresh Up shops in Horton Plaza and Plaza Bonita.
