Holy crap, was I wrong!!!! I saw her today and she's knocked up! At least 5 months now!!!! I guess science can do wonders for old people that are not of childbearing age! The kicker? They're still going at it! Surely, it can't be comfortable, given that he looks 14 months pregnant! So sex noises for now, screaming infant in a few months. Good thing our lease is up in October!!

I have neighbors who live 4-5 people in a 2 bedroom condo. They use all the hot water.

Hearing your issue, makes me realize that my issue isn't as bad.

Start apartment hunting now, my friend. It's only going to get worse once junior arrives! And wait till she's at 9 months pregnant and past her due date. That's when doctors say vigorous sex can in fact help get things moving along. Imagine what they'll be doing in the bedroom at that point! Wow.

If you haven't gone and spoken to the tenant in person you haven't handled *anything* in a civil way. That's where disagreements are supposed to be settled - landlords and HOA's and the police are for when that civil discussion breaks down.
Can't agree with Sassberto more. And although you'd love to fight fire with fire - you may find that you are the one that gets sued.

I don't believe this is uncommon, but it's highly dependent on the construction of the building. Since you said this is in an area with mostly houses, does it appear to be some kind of conversion? In any case, it seems many of these multi-story places (especially slightly older ones) are built similar to two story houses, in which case, yes you can hear what happens upstairs.

I actually had the opposite experience in an apartment in LA, the upstairs noise was very rare, but next door could be heard more. However, the bedrooms were designed so the closet was opposite the other apartment's closet, creating a reasonable separation between bedrooms.

Good idea, until you sleep in because you couldn't hear your alarm go off.
