My boyfriend and I are going to San Diego in a couple of months and I would like to go kayaking while we're there, but my boyfriend wont do anything in the ocean where a shark might come upon us. **sigh**

I've tried to tell him the chances of being attacked by a shark, especially in a kayak are really low, but he wont budge.

SO... where else could we go? We'd need to rent kayaks there as well.

Thanks!

You can go to Mission Bay Park (which is inland) and find a kayak rental around there.

Mission Bay Park | Park and Recreation

This is one I found with a quick search, although there are probably others.

Aqua Adventures Kayak Center - San Diego kayaks for sale plus kayaking instruction and Baja trips.

You can go to Coronado across the street from the Hotel Del.
You can rent anything there from a kayak to a motor boat to a sailboat.

Also Fastlane kayak in Mission Bay has pedal kayaks as well as paddle ones.

We've rented from Aqua Adventures before. They are really nice and you go out on the bay. You can also put it on your car (they provide the rack) and take it anywhere you want. I highly recommend them.

Ok, this might be a stupid question, but that's what the Internet is for.
When looking at a map, it looks like Mission Bay is connected to the ocean, so wouldnt there be sharks in the bay as well?

I've been here since 1988 and I've never heard of a shark in the bay. The biggest shark I ever saw here was a 1-foot-long baby shark that one of the fisherman caught in the ocean from Crystal Pier.

If he's that wary of the (remote) possibility of shark attach , how does he dare to drive a car with the (not nearly so remote) possiblity of serious collision?
