Default Looking for advice on summer rental areas in SD...

Hello. I'm looking for some advice on what areas to focus on to rent a home for a week during the summer (after July 4th). Price really isn't an issue, we just need a minimum of 4 bedrooms. There will be a few couples, all mid 30s, some with children. We would like to be near the beach, but do not want to rent in a crazy party area due to the young children. Can anyone offer any areas for us to focus on? Would Mission Beach be okay?

Also, any advice on where to look other than Craigslist?

Thank you in advance!

This is a good site to look for a vacation rent:

Mission Beach would be OK but consider a bayside rental. It's a lot quieter.

As an alternative, La Jolla Shores might be a consideration. La Jolla Shores is a much better family beach. Here's a sample 4 bedroom rental: Summer in La Jolla Shores (http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/vac/1709899715.html - broken link)

In addition to Craigslist, some property managers specialize in San Diego beachfront summer rentals.

Here's an example: San Diego Vacation Rentals, vacation rentals for rent san diego, Mission Beach Homes, Pacifiic Beach Condominiums, Rental Region

Default Beach Rentals in North County San Diego

You may like north county San Diego, possibly Oceanside or Carlsbad. Wide sandy beaches, great for kids, without the wild young and partying crowd that Mission Bay has. Carlsbad has a great downtown, very family friendly. Check out San Diego Beach Rentals, Vacation Rentals with Beach Front Ocean Views in Southern California for several beachfront properties in Oceanside, Carlsbad, and Encinitas, CA.

I would suggest Carlsbad as well. There are quite a few private homes right on the beach that rent by the week during summer - and because they're in residential neighborhoods, it's quieter.

And just in case anyone else is looking for a beach rental, where price is a limitation, I've had family stay at North Coast Village at the Oceanside Harbor - they're condos, and some go by the week, and they're fairly basic, but you're right on the beach, and the harbor is just across the way, and they have a pool or two as well. It's a good place!

If price is not an issue, you should check this home out in Carlsbad. I stumbled across it while doing a hotel search on Carlsbad beach front hotels. It looks amazing!!
