Hello,

Having just moved here from the east coast I was wondering if there were any places that sold italian water ice in San Diego? This is big back east in the summertime and was wondering if I could find any places out here?

I'm going through withdrawal!

Dan

Default Sun City Italian Ice

There is a brand new Italian Water Ice company in San Diego run by a guy who grew up on the east coast.

He is using motorized water ice carts that travel through San Diego neighborhoods.

I saw one of these carts at Mission Bay yesterday, and he was giving out free samples. He had around 10 flavors in the cart.

After trying a sample, I bought a cup, and it was very good.

He gave me a brochure, which has this website address:

Sun City Italian Ice

They have a YouTube video showing the carts:

Eddie's Philadelphia in North Park sells water ice (Sun City Ice I believe) and there is a place in the Home Depot parking lot off Carmel Mountain road called Flavors that sells water ice. The owners are from Philly and are good guys (Kevin and Ryan, IIRC).

Another place that sells water ice is Olde City Grill at 967 Garnet Ave. in Pacific Beach.

They also sell Philly Cheesesteaks, etc.

Here is their website:

Welcome to Olde City Grill - Pacific Beach, San Diego, California - Philadelphia Cheesesteaks, Pizza Pies, Hoagies, Italian Ice, Salads and more!

Thanks ... didn't know about Eddies. Just found their website:

Eddie's Philadelphia Steaks, Hogies & Burgers

Their menu says it is Sun City Italian Ice.

Will need to try it next time I go to Balboa Park.
