No doubt! Fun to visit but no way I'd want to deal with days like today. It took about 4 hours driving from Breckenridge to Denver with traffic bumper to bumper all the way on I-70.

Hopefully we can get back home tomorrow.

As much as I miss San Diego I love living here in the Denver area. I moved here 14 years ago looking for a change and it has been great to me. I loved the snow yesterday. I still go back to San Diego at least once a year because I love the ocean and my folks still live there. Every chance I get I surf while I am there. Brings back great memories of my youth.

Just spent about an hour shoveling, so needless to say I am not looking forward to more of it! pffft Thankfully I don't think this next round will amount to much (or so I hope not).

ER, did you manage to escape Denver and get home yet, or are you still waiting?

Nope. I'm still here! Both Frontier flights to San Diego today were totally full. I have 4 confirmed seats on the 9 PM flight out tonight. Hopefully it goes out without a hitch.

Still waiting here at the Westin Hotel. It will be nice to get home.

I'm enjoying this thread and the almost polar responses as I am considering both cities right now because I absolutely despise Phoenix and cannot wait to get TFO of here. I lived in Denver for 3 years so my perspective on that city is based more on first hand observation.

San Diego is definitely greener and the infrastructure, particularly the residential and commercial architecture is prettier (IMO) than that found in Denver. San Diego has both the mountains (not the towering majesty of The Rockies but still..) and the ocean. Obviously SD is quite a bit more expensive. I've been looking at houses and $200,000 for a 1000sft 2 br, 2 ba single family home does not seem uncommon which makes me wonder, where are all the young people and how do they afford to live? One thing I liked, and was surprised about SD when I visited was that it's much much smaller than it seems and certainly a lot smaller than both Phoenix and Denver. I did notice quite lot of homeless people both downtown and in the mission beach area.

Denver is cheaper, obviously. The front range is green from about mid April through the first week of June, then everything turns yellow or brown, except the pines of course. World class outdoor adventure sports venues only a couple of hours drive. Epic and truly breath taking mountain views in RMNP, also about 2 hours drive. The cities population is very young and at 35 yo, that is a major plus for me personally. People in general did not seem pretentious and everyone was really laid back and non judgmental, and there seemed to be less of a focus on image, unlike here in Phoenix. In general (traffic, grocery stores, movie theatres etc..) it's less crowded than SD.

I did not mention the weather differences because they are obvious and also because they are completely subject to an individuals likes and dislikes.

Not sure how pretentious and image focused people in SD are. Maybe someone can answer that one for me.

I would begrudgingly agree with that, with the Capitol Hill district being the exception.

Its in pockets here and there but not overly obsessive. Definitely for the middle class Joe type, going into a La Jolla or Del Mar it may appear that way. I think its actually pretty standard issue stuff based on socioeconomics (eg. chin lifts, botox, Euro sports cars) that you would find in more affluent areas but not overly indulgent.

I spent last Monday in La Jolla and it looked EXPENSIVE, and I do recall seeing a number of pretentious looking women with obvious breast implants, tons of makeup and stiletto high heel shoes. I might add that women like that are far in between and few in Denver.
