I am from a small Wisconsin town of 8,000 and may be relocating to a job in Carlsbad in the next few months. A little nervous about a large city...driving...expenses... I've searched for apartments which all seem really nice but a little expensive. My fiance is a union carpenter (journeymen?)...is there decent work for a carpenter? I want to bring my large golden retriever...although it appears to be harder to find an apartment.

It looks beautiful there...different but in a good way. Any info...likes/dislikes of Carlsbad area...advice before I make a big decision???

Carlsbad is not a large city
Compared to where your from then yeah
It's one of the nicer areas of SD county.
My dislike is CRLSBD has lots of higher income and great schools.(Im from Chula Vista and we don't have that). Also, I-5 traffic sucks most of the day every day.Even Saturdays and Sundays.
Not much I really like there maybe clean(er) beaches but I'm not into that.

I don't live in the area yet, but from what I have seen, Carlsbad seems beautiful. I would love to live there. Last year when we thought we could afford to live there we looked at several houses, and it seemed like a very safe area. It is very expensive though so we have had to choose somewhere else to live. Again, I don't have any experience with the place except for looking at homes there, but other people on these boards are extremely knowledgable, so they will pipe in and give you some good advice.
