We are visiting SD and will be there for the 4th of July. We will be staying near Mission Beach. I have tried looking in different websites to get information on all the celebrations for the 4th of July but somethings are still unclear. Where might it be the best place to go to see the Big Bay fireworks for my family of 6? Is there a 4th of July Parade near Mission Beach area that we attend? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Keep an eye on the Union Tribune events calendar for July 4th:

The environmental folks are starting to raise issues with all the fireworks. So they celebrations may not be as extensive this years as in the past.

There are numerous fireworks displays around the Mission Bay area.

One of the best is at Sea World. I believe they shoot the fireworks from Fiesta Island which is across the bay from Sea World.

Other firework displays can be found at Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach and La Jolla.

There is also a smaller fireworks display at Mission Bay which you can view from the Crown Point area. I think it's from a hotel at Paradise Island.

The fireworks display on San Diego Bay is probably the biggest. They typically have around 3 separate fireworks displays on the Bay all firing in unison, so it looks like a mirror image.

There are some locations around Mission Bay where you can view several different of the above displays, but most will be seen from a distance. One location is on the Ingraham Street bridge near Sea World.

Also ... arrive early to any fireworks display. Parking on July 4th can be a nightmare.

You are going to be staying in the heart of the beast and I hope you have a good parking spot. You'll see fireworks fine in MB, since they have the big show at Sea World. But if you plan on going somewhere else, good luck getting out of MB (unless it's before 4pm).

And don't bother trying to get back into MB before midnight.

We've watched the fireworks from the deck of the USS Midway for the past couple of years. The view is fantastic. Tickets always sell out early: Apple Pie 4th of July | USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum San Diego

Usually there is a fireworks barge that goes off in the middle of Mission Bay. If you can find a spot anywhere along the shore of Mission Bay with an unobstructed view to the center, then you should be good.
