Conzelman Rd in Golden Gate National Recreation Area overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and do it on a foggy day right after sunsets. You have found one of the most beautiful city in the country to propose. Lucky you!

Treasure Island/Yerba Buena Island would definitely be good though in summer the fog can block the city. If it's clear then it's a really amazing view at night.

I think Coit Tower would be a really neat place to propose, especially at night looking out over the city and bay. There are a lot of great places in San Francisco but a quiet place like Telegraph Hill would be perfect.

Default Follow-Up

Think I've decided on the Legion of Honor for my purposes. However, it's difficult to scout out from out-of-state. If anybody could answer ANY of these questions, I'd be much obliged.

(And yes, I will call them directly to confirm some of these anyway).

I'm going to have time to propose on a Friday night or anytime Saturday. Is one of these days better (for avoiding crowds, or concurrent externalities like events/live music? (I heard "weekends are really busy" there. I would prefer a dusk proposal but I'm hearing the LoH can get really busy after about noon. I've also heard about long lines, which would not be very romantic to propose next to.)

Is admission required to enter the courtyard/temple where the Thinker statue sits? Is flash photography allowed inside this area?

Is it possible to enter (or get near) the courtyard/temple area after it closes, like around dusk for photography?

I recommend Ocean Beach on a cold, foggy summer day! It cannot get any more San Francisco than that... Both you of can wear some Northface jackets or hoodies to for better photo op!

I suggest taking her to dinner somewhere near a cable car line like Union Square. After dinner, hop on the Hyde cable car and ride up to Hyde at Lombard. Hop off and walk her down a couple steps on Lombard (east towards the city). The view of Coit tower, the Bay Bridge and FiDi is pretty awesome there. I'd propose there.
