Hi everyone,

I am thinking of buying a condo in Oakland. i have a few areas on my shortlist: Uptown, Temescal, Old Oakland. Any owners in these neighborhoods?

On my list of must haves: close to transit, preferably BART, parking space (deeded) and a few amenities with the HOAs - community room, maybe a gym, Hazard insurance and/or earthquake insurance).

I have some flexibility with timing, so I really would like some idea of complexes and buildings that may be suitable. Something newer or recently renovated. I am making a short list of buildings so I can watch the market for sales.

Any thoughts or opinions on what it's like to live in that part of town (I live by Piedmont Ave now).

Targeted budget? Under $300k for a 1/1 (or slightly larger) > no Ellington for me.

I also wish realtors would stop with the stretchy pictures. That place is smaller than it looks -- that kitchen is VERY stretched -- look at the stove!

I saw the prettiest downtown condo - 1br/1ba, $380,000 (there are two other units in the building that cost less, too):

1755 Broadway #21, Oakland, CA 94612 | MLS# 371466
