$7.25 per hour: Schwarzenegger cuts Calif. workers' pay - Politics - More politics - msnbc.com

Wow~ what more can I say?

May be it should be the other way around...pay the legislatures minimum wage until a budget plan is in place. And maybe pay the Union leaders minimum wage until they realize how much Unions HURT business. There was once upon a time for unions but that day has been long over for many professions represented by unions in California. Take a look at Texas a non Union state....Texas will NEVER EVER be in the financial hole as badly as California has allowed itself to dig itself into! Texans receive better work benefits then what I have seen here in California without Unions.

This isn't about unions. This has become an annual exercise - budget has always been late for many years, and this is political posturing. The real issue is our legislative process - 2/3rds supermajority vote, term limits for legislatures (no long term building of relationships and fostering a short term climate of polarization), and way too much legislation by initiatives, Prop (fill in the number), which actually in practice aggregately limits the amount of money legislatures can work with.

The only positive thing if there is a positive I remember living in DC when the federal government couldn't reach a budget. Workers were sent home with no pay. Of course this only lasted a day or so...
