Hi Herta, as you can imagine April will be a little cooler than summer, but it is usually quite pleasant. I do not prefer August, as you will see that many of the grasses and plants are brown and dead. There are still many trees and plants green and beautiful but I prefer April.

I agree that Carmel is a beautiful town to visit. It is very distinctive and worth a stop. It is expensive to stay there however. There are plenty of hotels in Monterey. Monterey has the aquarium which is nice, but I think not really necessary. I don't really enjoy visiting Monterey because it just doesn't feel interesting to me. I prefer Santa Cruz and Carmel. Big Sur is a "must see". Santa Barbara is definitely worth visiting. I agree that San Simeon/Hearst Castle is worth a stop. If you want to see something "touristy" you can go to Solvang to see an American version of a Danish village. There are actually many good reviews of some of the hotels and restaurants in town on Yelp, so it could be worth a stop.

I don't know if you are interested, but I would recommend stopping at any of the wineries you come across. Many of the wineries near Paso Robles and Santa Barbara are very good. On Highway 1, you may not see many, as there are more on Highway 101.

Hi zitsky thanks for your reply.

yes it was my question if it was pleasant at this periode . Good tks
the aquarium could be interesting for my baby so we will see

I think we will visit santa cruz & monterey and we will stop at carmel for the night.
I like this hotel on the beach but little bit expensive and I'm not sure it's a good one. Is anyone already test it ?

may be we can find one with an hotel in front

If you go to the wineries, you don't need a hotel. Just pass out in the parking lot or the nearest chair.

Keep in mind that hotel is not in Monterey. It's in a small town about 20 minutes north of Monterey. The reviews on Tripadvisor are very mixed good/bad. There are better hotels in town that are close to the beach.

Are you talking about the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway)?

If you're taking that road down to L.A., bring a big selection of good music, ipod comes in handy for times like these and make sure you have something to connect it to through the cigarette burner.

Bonne chance!
