Default 2 People in a 1 Bedroom

My sister and I are thinking about renting a 1 bedroom if we can find one with a floor plan that is right for us. It would cut down on costs a little and for us, sisters who have shared a room with bunk beds, it would work and not be a big deal. My question is do you know if landlords are okay with this? Do you have to be a couple for this to be okay? Do they really have the right to ask us our relationship? If they just assume we're a couple that's fine by me, but I don't know how it usually goes...

I certainly can't answer for all landlords, but I don't think it should make a difference if you are a couple, are sisters or just good friends.

Plenty of young couples rent 1 bedrooms because they can't afford a 2br. If you and your sister get along it should be fine.

Its perfectly okay. In SF, you can stuff five bunkbeds in a studio apartment and have 10 hipsters share that place. No problem

Default Sisters.

I own a 1 bdr house with a nice garage and large lot. Its a investment. Tax writeoff. I wouldnt care who wanted to rent it as long as credit was good. Now, if 2 women or 2 men wanted to rent it. I would wonder, whats up. Just for a second. It would go away. Then again, Im very open minded in everyway. Most people arent.
