Default Staying near Brisbane,California

Hi Everybody,

I a currently located at Pine Brook,New jersey.

I am flying to Brisbane,California in 2-3 days.

i) My query is : Can you please suggest any good places(hotels/motels) to stay which is nearby Brisbane?

I found some hotels in San Bruno which are within my budget($70-80).

ii) My second query : is San Bruno a safe area to live.I will be using public transport for at least 1-2 months as I have no car.And also is there any bus service which runs from San Bruno to Brisbane.

Thanks in advance.

Default Brisbane

I think your budget is pretty low for staying in the SF Bay Area. Is that all your company can give you? If you're working in Brisbane, you'll be in one of two different places.

One is east of hwy 101 in a bay inlet (I used to work there). This area has a Radisson and one other hotel. The only public transit I'm aware of that goes to this area is a shuttle bus that leaves from a couple of BART stations, I believe the shuttle picks up at SF Balboa park station and the other I think picks up in South SF or San Bruno, you can do some research of 511.org to research Bay Area public transit options - route maps etc.

The other side of Brisbane is west of 101 and more in town Brisbane, there is also a BART shuttle bus that comes to this side of Brisbane and I would assume SAM trans buses go there as well.

San Bruno is ok, its safe, but everything east of El Camino Real is pretty run down, and there is airport noise.

Anywhere you stay in this region is safe and I would make your decision on what hotel to stay at based on public transit availability, as your transit options are pretty limited.

There is a 24 hour Samtrans bus which goes through SFO and Brisbane (ultimately to San Francisco downtown) along Airport Blvd/Bayshore. There are dozens of hotels along that bus line in Burlingame and South San Francisco. Basically, if it's close to 101, then it's close to the bus. It's a slow season for hotels, so check everywhere. If you're in SF and can get to Mission Street or South Van Ness, then you have access to the same bus line.

Getting from San Bruno to Brisbane is a little more challenging. You would need to find a way to get over to Airport & Linden to catch the bus to Brisbane.

If you are staying in the area for at least 2 months, I would look into a short term apartment rental situation, often tenants move out early and get someone to take over their lease for the remaining months. $80 a night for 30 days is $2400, you could rent an apartment for much less than that per month, and an $80 a night apartment in the Bay Area probably isn't going to be very nice. Yes you might have to furnish it but you'd be saving a lot of money. There are other hotel type places you can rent furnished rooms for more like $1000 a month, there are a few in San Francisco, I don't know about the Peninsula.

No, the bus runs along Old Bayshore Hwy and Airport Blvd. You don't need to get to SFO first.

Hi,
mayorhaggar

Is there any place nearby where I can get an apartment as you mentioned and also can commute via
public transport.

Later on I will try to get a driving license so that I commute via car.

But for the time now I need to be in a place which can be accessed via public transport and safe also.

I have another query : "and an $80 a night apartment in the Bay Area probably isn't going to be very nice " - aren't these hotels safe to stay?

I think the nearest would be Bayshore & Oyster Point, which would be about a 30 minute walk. I didn't realize that area was part of Brisbane; it's close to a number of SSF hotels on Oyster Point, so I would target that area if I could.
