I'm a 27 year old single straight male who has grown up in CT and will be returning to work(2nd season) at a Tahoe area ski resort this winter. Jobs/culture in CT is stagnant and I'm a longtime lover of Northern Cal. While in Tahoe, Im looking to migrate westward to at least Sacramento but hopefully to a cool spot in the Bay Area during, or after, the winter. I'm looking for a liberal place with lots of physically active people who have not given up reasonable experimentation with drugs, sex, etc. I'd like to be in an area where I can be social and single into my 30s and not feel old...a place with a vibrant music and counterculture scene with a smattering of rootsy sports bars. Also a place where I can find a decent job with a reasonable commute and rent. Can Sac accomodate this or is it too provincial? Where in the Bay Area can this 27 year old feel like a kid again? Any thoughts are appreciated.

The castro and the tenderloin are some places you should check out. Lots of 'experiment' types in them neck of the woods

California is the same as anywhere else in the US. What you do in your free time just depends on who your friends are.

Sports bars with tuber themes, such as carrots and potatoes.
