This is great. Oakland is suing some of the looters from the "protests" after the Mehserle trial.

Oakland sues 4 protesters in Mehserle verdict riot

Best Line:
"Williams 'stated that he felt stupid for stealing gold teeth when he already had some in his mouth...'"

Hopefully Oakland is able to collect something, but this is still great even on principle. If you come to Oakland and act like an idiot, you will be penalized.

I like it. Overwhelmingly, the arrested folks were from other cities who came in to Oakland to capitalize on it. Punish them.

Agreed 100%

Imagine if we went to their cities and did that....the media would make it a point over and over to emphasize that it was Oaklanders that did that.

They should. You have to take responsibility for your actions. People from other areas come to Oakland merely to start trouble because they think they can get away with it.

SF just won 2 games of the WS and no one freaked out. You know why? Because they won't tolerate it and will pepper spray your eyeballs. Oakland needs to make it known the won't put up with that nonsense. Knock some heads if they have to.

SF puts up with plenty of nonsense, lol

Come to Critical Mass on the last Friday of each month (6pm - JH Plaza) and you'll see how much SF is willing to put up with.

No one riots after going up 2-0 in a series when they're about to go on the road for 3 in a row. Maybe when they actually win it all, they will.

Out of towners who go to SF always go nuts because they believe all the dumb stereotypes and think that SF is a place where "anything goes." Look at Bay to Breakers where all these out of towners come here and drink all our booze and pee on our sidewalks and literally poop on our doorsteps because they think that is normal behavior in SF. Well maybe it is if you're homeless. But at any sort of celebration in SF, like Halloween or Gay Pride festivals or Fleet Week or whatever, most people being "eccentric" are people from the suburbs or even other states who come here and go wild.

Yes people are more accepting in SF but that doesn't mean they are accepting of people defecating on their doorsteps. A lot of people who actually live in SF go out of town for these types of celebrations to get away from the people they attract.

Oakland had riots after winning the 2002 AFC Championship, and then rioted again when they lost the Superbowl.

Did this have a point I wasn't aware of?

I don't think anyone is arguing that Oakland doesn't have riots, but a poster mentioned that San Francisco's police force deters any foul behavior from people. What's your point?

Wanna see people riot? Go to Detroit or LA when they win a title. These cities are notorious for rioting in regard to the performance of their sports teams.
