This toy ban will do nothing health positive that can be measured. These same pathetic parents who can't tell their kids "NO" at McDonalds will not suddenly become health conscious parents. If their children are obese now, eliminating the Happy Meal toy will not change that.

Because McDonalds is a business, SF has no problem telling it what it can sell when the product is not proven harmful.

Yet SF would never dream of telling its employees that they must have a certain BMI, or not smoke in their homes, because that is an intrusion on personal freedom.

I knew I wasn't the only Bay Area native who was amazed at this. Now that explains it.

So because this idiot couldn't control his own damn kid, he has to "use" his power an position to pass a local law to do it for him??? Nice use of local tax money. Everyone in SF should be mad right now. I don't even live there and I am.

San Francisco overrides mayoral veto, bans Happy Meals with toys - CNN.com

That's it kids, no more Happy Meals for you. High time the youth of America understands just who really is raising them.

And its about time someone tells the world the days of Ward & June Cleaver are long gone. Leave it to the government, not the Beaver.

When he vetoed the measure, Newsom said, "Parents, not politicians, should decide what their children eat, especially when it comes to spending their own money."
I agree with Newsome and Dr. Phil. It's the parents and should always be the parents.

Alas, too little too late. The Board, in it's infinite wisdom, just over-rode Mayor Hair Gel's veto. They said it was going to happen, whether he liked it or not!
