Of course norcal dude, the "outsider" and "transplant" had to break the story because people were so drunk on kool-aid that they did not know what was going on.

youre welcome
Done patting yourself on the back? I've stated a few times now I didn't want Quan to win, and I still feel I didn't want Quan to win. I think it would be nice to have a stadium, but hardly #1 on my priority list for what I'd like to see done by the mayor.

You're forgiven, I probably couldn't have helped being a bit smug either. I didn't realize Oakland was actually in a realistic position to move on the A's deal, figured it was pipe dreams.

I know, considering how i am almost always right about everything, I can boast a bit. The reality of the situation is that 5-10 years from now the A's will be playing in the same place they are now.

Or,

They will except the package deal in Jack London Square.

And would have one of the best modern baseball facilities.

If Quan does have the Victory Court Ball Park A's her top priority, I believe it's because she realizes the history, civic pride, and the economic impact it would have on the city and would help towards the "Revitalization of The City of Oakland"

as a long time out of market fan of the A's franchise, I have been trying to follow the stadium situation. I hope they stay in Oakland, and move to Jack London Square.

I am not too familiar with Oakland, but it sounds like it would be a hit. They have always kind of been a nomadic team starting in Philly, then KC and currently Oakland...hopefully they won't add a fourth city to their history.

I say keep the A's where they are and just build up the area. If you bring in a Hooters they will come.

A's just signed Hideki Matsui today, with over 100 reporters present - 80% of whom were Japanese. Team looks to be getting quite a bit more press going forward, thus a hotter commodity. Should make for a more spirited fight between SJ and Oakland (and Bill Neukom, for that matter).

Cust actually had himself a good year last year. He hit .272 (on base percentage of .395) in 112 games. His power numbers were down from the previous three seasons, but he also didn't play in as many games. His batting average was the highest in his career and his OBP was tops for the team.

I would suspect that we'll see Matsui hit rather similarly this year and if Beltre signs, I think you have yourself a nice DH-tandem with Matsui and Encarnacion. If Beltre doesn't sign and Kouzmanoff stays, you can have the same DH-tandem of Matsui and Encarnacion.

Don't forget the addition of DeJesus and the (god I sure hope) the emergence of either Cris Carter or Mike Taylor.

If things work out, the A's could match a pretty decent hitting lineup with one of the best pitching staffs in all of baseball.
