I don't blame Black folks for wanting to leave the Bay. Especially in a city like San Francisco. Black folks have it terrible in SF. The only places you see a lot of Black folks in SF is the projects/ghetto areas. Whenever you see a lot of Black folks outside in any area of SF, it is usually a blighted, dangerous, impoverished high crime area. Where I live now in Maryland is not like this at all. There is a huge Black middle class where I currently live on the East Coast. The vast majority of Black folks still living in SF are extremely poor. All of the middle class Black folks left SF years ago for greener pastures. Either that or they were forced out of the City due to rising cost of living during the 90's and the last decade. Most Blacks still residing in SF live in quasi-third world conditions in some of the worst projects in the country that are completely cut off from the rest of the City.

Yeah I read about this before. Some people are actually upset that black communities are changing and want to take action to STOP that. It's rediculous to expect things to stay the same though.

Might there be an air of intolerance or discomfort in some areas that leads black folks to more friendly confines, due south?

Proud to be "Purple".

In SF's case, it's not intolerance mostly (aside from the redevelopment of the Fillmore district in the 1950s-1970s)...the causes are largely a combination of gentrification/rising prices and high crime in many of the areas that remain ungentrified (which includes all heavily black areas in SF).

LOL SF is a two-faced, fake liberal city so it makes sense.

Gentrification and rising prices are a nationwide phenomena and not limited in SF. My old city, Dallas, which has undergone extreme gentrification is last 10 years is also huge magnet for black people moving from everywhere else. And most of them are middle class professionals with good jobs. I don't know what causes the income disparity among different races in bay area, but the income gap between blacks and whites in bay area is simply staggering. And I doubt this level of disparity exists anywhere else in the US, including the deep South. So much so for liberalism and progressive attitudes! This is what happens when a group of people believes their own BS a little too much-
