That would make sense. I've heard that on any given day there are about 1 1/2 million people in the city. I hope that's what they meant.

That's 18% of 800,000 which is something like 144,000. That's more people than many cities with larger land areas. Not to mention those who may have come from outside the city and use Muni, and tourist.

Wikipedia says the daily ridership on Muni is 686,000 (2006), BART 320,000 (date unknown).

Some lines are way worse than others, and most are bad at commuter times.

Did CNBC take into consideration that you have to walk a mile and a half to go a mile? It's the only way to skirt and dodge the panhandlers, dopers and drunks and human waste on the sidewalks.
