The restaurant/bar scene is Alameda in nice though, lots of options on Park/Lincoln.

I think Oakland in the aforementioned areas are your best bets for Berkeley and CSUEB.
Oh good point! You need to be around either Harrison or East on 580 or after about 5th on 880.

I used to work in Hayward of of 92. It took me 30 minutes in the AM on most days, at about 7:30-8:30 AM. I took the streets from around San Leandro. IT was the same when I cam from 880 or 580 there wasn't much difference. The way home was much more annoying.

You can easily get to at least 238 in 10-12 minutes from Harrison/Lakeshore/Downtown Oakland 880 exits. After 238 it is random, but the streets can be reasonable fast. If you can exit at A Street or Winton it is better. I have only been to CSUEB once, it took me about 20 minutes if I recall.

The biggest bottleneck during the commute is from 238 to the 92 sections on 880 South. The DTO traffic is not bad and tends to go fast. The traffic around the airport is worse if it is bad. Most days it isn't until you get to 238.

Leaving Hayward between about 4:45 PM to 6:20 PM is a nightmare though. There are no shortcuts. I tried every route and leaving during that time always took 40-50 minutes.
