You can see Mt Diablo from elevated parts of San Francisco. You can't see it from the lower elevation on the east side of San Francisco.

Somewhere in this collection of stuff I kept over the years is an old book with point to point data with elevations of what is visible in respect of relay sites communication facilities used before satellites took over the job. It lists the elevations at which direct line of site is established along the path between peaks. For Mt Diablo to Twin Peaks I think the elevation started at 300+ feet from Mt Diablo and the 3200 feet elevation of Mt Diablo is visible from Twin Peaks.

Mt Diablo is visible from Sacramento about 53 miles distance.

Like today? Or Yesterday? How rare. Also, I hate to break it to you, but there's usually not thick fog between SF and Mount Diablo. Just because you live in a neighborhood with lots of fog doesn't mean the rest of SF/the Bay Area/California/North America is perpetually enveloped in fog as well. How many times do you need to be told that?

I found this: Mount Diablo Vistas

I still don't think the original pictures were from Mt. Diablo, but maybe a bit further south near Moraga.

No, hills in moraga are too low to see over the Oakland hills. I think they were taken from Mt. Diablo...just with crazy zoom lenses.

Yes, those pictures aren't representative of what you see at all; but on a clear day, with a telephoto lens, you can clearly see SF.

There is really no other place those pictures could have been taken. I guess if you're not a photographer, you can't really understand how the perspective can be thrown off by telephoto lenses. Telephoto lenses make everything appear closer in relation to each other and this is clearly evident in these pics. This is at least a 300mm lens being used. I too shoot with a 300mm and know the distortion they can cause.

The east bay hills on Oakland can get fog too! How come you are not aware of that.... Even without fog there is a layer of haze over the bay that can block the view. You know very well that a crisp clear day with long visibility is not very common in SF!

Dude shut up. The East Bay does get some fog, but it's nothing like in SF.

We know you're deathly allergic to fog, but quit insinuating that the Oakland Hills is like Lands End in SF...

I lived a block from the Ocean in San Francisco and sometimes didn't see it for a month at a time. I wound up getting a Land Rover for it's Aluminum Body because the fug rusted everything
