Hey everyone,

I currently live in Santa Rosa but my boyfriend commutes to SF for school becasue he attends the state school there. We are trying to move closer to the city, somewhere in Marin county.

From what I've seen on Craigslist.org the rent is crazy high for just a studio. We have a 13 pound dog and a cat we just rescued from abandonment. I will not leave my animals behind. Many places for rent don't accept animals and if they do the animal deposit is murder.

I was thinking we might move into and rent out a motor or manufactured home park. From what I can tell the rent seems lower and they seem more willing to accept animals. Is this a wise choice? Are there apt complexes that I shoud be looking into? Any other options I should be looking into? Is east bay or south bay any better? Any additonal help or advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

Any trailer park usually has a lot of crappy people living there so they attract crime, so be careful about that. Fortunately you don't really need to worry about tornadoes or hurricanes which eat trailer parks like popcorn, though I can't imagine they do well in big quakes...but then neither would a lot of apartment buildings or houses, and big quakes are rare.

And I wouldn't go with Marin if you're trying to save money, the East Bay is a LOT cheaper, Marin is pretty much the most expensive part of the Bay Area.

There are some trailer parks in Concord I've seen that looked pretty decent, to the east of the main Concord BART station I believe.
