Dear CA's:
No wonder you folks are trying your best to get out of CA.....came down from Grants Pass, OR to Redwood forest, then on to Carmel.... so crowded you could not move in a car.... then on to that twisted 101 or 1 that has nothing but S curves and 4000 ft cliffs to ocean.....took 4hrs to make 100 miles. Sorry, to gripe so much but all the posts I have read on CA .....you are exactly right....must have lots of money to live in CA. Good luck and God bless but have written CA off my list.........you gotta really love that place to live there.

Yeah, we all want to get out of CA because it's so tough to drive on PCH 1..

Also, post this on the CA board (not the SF board) to get some sympathetic response and start the 5 millionths CA bashing post..

Yeah we should have dynamited all the hills so we could have giant freeways everywhere. Who needs scenery when you have strip malls.

Anyway, go away and never darken the door of our fair state again. Nyah!

So basically you're complaining that you along with many other out-of-towners were clogging up our scenic roads and it took you a long time to get through...I'm confused. We Californians are happy to know you won't be moving here.

So you take the SLOW SCENIC exceptionally beautiful coastal route like all the other tourists and thought you'd just whip through with speed and efficiency like you would on a freeway?

I don't think you were dealing with people trying to get out, but people trying to experience something wonderful.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience in CA. I'm from the Midwest (St. Louis) and every time I've been to California it's been a blast. Weather is great. People are nice. Lots of diverse culture and things to do.

My brothers and I drove during rush hour from Marysville through San Francisco and further down highway 1 (I think that's the name of it). The traffic wasn't nearly as bad as I'd thought it would be, but in any big city...what do you expect? That's why there is public transportation.

The view from highway one was breathtaking imo. Nothing but an open road and the ocean is a perfect 10.

I know it's only a very small part of California that i've been in, but bashing the entire state seems a bit much.

Anywho, I hope you have a better experience next time around or find a place that doesn't "suck".

If you were in a hurry the 101 would have taken 90 minutes other than the 4 hour drive on PCH. Worth the 4 hours every few years.

...yeah a flat straight road through farmland is so much more appealing than driving along the twisting coastline where the Pacific Ocean meets the hills creating one of the most beautiful drives in the country where millions of people from across the world come to experience themselves each year. trollolololol
