Because he said it's the closest one he can use his points at and afford the trip.

There is a Fairfield inn by the Oakland Airport as well as a courtyard in both downtown Oakland and by the Oakland airport all of witch would be much easier locations to get to SF from. the Courtyard in Downtown is on top of a bart station you could be in SF in minutes, though the two by the airport are less expensive. Hayward's not bad there just isn't much to do around there.

Who cares?

A difference in the feel of crime between Hayward and S.F. is that there are always more people on the streets in S.F. which give it an illusion of being safer.

yeah i'll be taking haggar and capo's advice, thanks again! the hayward fairfield was the closest hotel i was able to get for 2 nights with the amount of points i had available. to me, it doesn't sound bad to stay there so i'll follow through with that. it's free plus i'll have a car to take into the city or BART.

thanks again.

Taking your car in the city will probably negate any hotel savings. Parking is around $5 an hour in most garages. Parking meters are $3-3.50 an hour and very hard to find. Just an FYI. Some lots might offer some deals for all day parking, but they are generally pretty far from the attractions ($15-30 per day, business hours). Driving and parking in SF could easily cost $40 a day when factoring in gas and bridge tolls.

^^^I think that this is really why Hayward gets a bad rap. The crime rate itself may not be that high but the crime-to-anything-at-all-of-interest ratio is.

High ratio of meth addicts but otherwise not a bad town; sounds like you've got the trip figured out.

Ding ding ding! There are pretty much now redeeming qualities of Hayward other than location.

A suburb with generally crappy restaurants, a crappy mall, and relatively high crime. What's the point?

(I like the Panera, Tomodachi and Buffalo Bills in Hayward. Oh the Target is nice. And I am jealous they are geting a Fresh and Easy. End of likes.)

I agree, the area is fine.. it's by Chabot College which is one of the areas of Hayward folks here usually recommend.
