Default Only in San Francisco again - almst

Provide tax incentives for hiring felons. Guess real people don't need or deserve jobs as badly. The grand prize must go to those who hire illegal immigrant felons, dontcha think.

SF plan would offer tax break for hiring felons

I'm confused, where did illegal immigration drop into this? And felons are not real people I guess only holograms?

As much as the SFBOS makes bonehead moves, I think this is a good idea. They're not mandating anyone hire felons, only giving special incentives to those who do. Any tax break given is likely much less than the cost (monetary or otherwise) of recidivism, especially crucial in a time the governor has put more of the imprisonment duties back on the counties.
I see Curmudgeon the Ozarker is utilizing "Tea Party" logic with its usual ad-hoc phrasing, but thinking outside the box occasionally may be beneficial.

No "Tea Party" adherent here. I find the extremes on all sides to be amusing, pathetic and counter-productive. "Thinking ourside the box" may help you avoid assumptions. But then again, perhaps not.

Only in San Francisco but it is copied from Philadelphias plan.

It's election time and a myriad of candidates are offering a trucload of Plans, depending on who they are speaking to

San Francisco has over five times as many Mexican immigrants as Russian immigrants.

Mexican: 23,786
Russian: 4,776

China (including Hong Kong, Taiwan) has them both beat of course, coming in at 93,108 (75,850 for China alone).

Ex felons have difficulties being getting hired, so often return to crime after their release.
The city can either give small tax breaks up front to encourage companies to hire them, or they can pay the full costs of policing/prosecution/incarceration. Sounds like a good deal to me.

And, honestly, these are jobs your average American is breaking down the door to get. These are crappy, dirty, often demeaning low-level jobs.
