Is SF the best city in the US?

In theory yes, in practice no.

This is an opinion overall. I believe the economy in SF is poor, the COL is outrageous for what is received in return, I don't care about natural beauty, the weather is monotone b/c I prefer four seasons and the transit is of low quality. Therefore, to me SF is not the best. Actually, SF barely cracks my top 8.

Does it seem one of these does not jibe with the other?

And would it be acceptable to pave over the whole planet, if we no longer care about natural beauty? We could try, but we'd all soon die. Kind of points to the larger issue of too many people accepting an entirely sedentary, sitting-on-the-couch-playing-video-games lifestyle. Anybody want to go outside?

The Bay Area's future "industry" is to be a domicile for the elderly wealthy. It's already well down that road. Where else could you get away with selling very mundane condos for over a mil - based on them being in one of the "elder play pens."

Ahh, a "domicile for the elderly wealthy." But wait - I thought yuppies were overtaking San Francisco? Or is it the hipsters? Err, I mean the hippies? Or was it the Beats? No - must be the gays. Wait, I mean the Chinese. Or was it the homeless?

I mean, ummm...please remind me, who should we be currently blaming for the reason San Francisco, you know, changes every now and then? Because EVERYONE knows SF was better whenever, well, YOU grew up here. And it clearly will never be as good. What a pity.

If I recall correctly, the number of children in S.F continues to decline. S.F will have young professionals, and old people, and perhaps not a whole lot in between.

After all, I'm sure S.F can be a fun place to live if you're young and single, but once you've got a kid on the way, I bet the suburbs start looking pretty nice...

Ahh, perfect, thank you. I'm going to start blaming the children for deserting San Francisco. Damn kids.
