Hey Guys! I am new to this site but have been avidly reading anything to do with the Concord area. I just accepted a job in the Mission District of San Francisco, I am set to go out there next week. I currently live in Chicago. I thought I was getting ahead of the game and put a deposit down on a nice condo in Concord. Here's my dilemma, now that I am further investigating, I see that the area the condo is in is not so great? The address is 1699 Laguna St. I have a four year old and one year old that I want to make sure are safe above anything else. I understand the commute is a hike, that isn't what concerns me. Any feedback on this specific area of Concord would be greatly appreciated!

- Peter

It's kind of a dumpy/lower class/immigrant heavy area. Might have some property crime issues in the area but it's not what I would call dangerous at all.

Thanks for your input, I have been reading a lot about crime in that area, especially by some pond or something that is near there!

There are definitely better places to live but I know that area is cheaper. What is your budget? Pleasant Hill is nicer and more family friendly.

Yeah unfortunately that limits your options. You might want to consider looking farther down Clayton Rd towards Clayton. Commute would be longer as you're farther from BART and the FWY but the area should be better. But that area isn't "that" bad imo and not dangerously violent or anything, just lower class/dump. The entire Bay Area is just so incredibly overpriced unfortunately.

sav858 is right. For the price you can get a townhouse or condo closer to Clayton. It is a bit longer as you have to drive cross town, but it is a better area.
