Yes and that has been matched and exceeded by an owner who has done everything he can to leave town from the time he bought the team--Oakland never got a fair shake from Lew Wolff.

Furthermore, MLB is no rush to accomodate Lew Wolff or San Jose. In fact, they really don't have to do anything until they want to and if it were a done deal, we would have heard about it by now.

Furthermore, we see what's happening now. Management is deliberately making sure the team tanks in the next few years to drive away as many fans as possible. This has been their M.O. from day one. Billy Beane really sold his soul to the devil. Such a shame.

But I agree. Jerry Brown really dropped the ball with the opportunity to build a new stadium.

Jean Quan on the other hand, is very eager to keep the team.

Wolff announced the Fremont move in November 2006. What has Oakland done since then? They threw out Victory Court as their new mantra/rallying cry but the land is not acquired nor is there an EIR started. Then, a year later, focus is suddenly back on the Coliseum site with this whole sports city concept, which is like three pies in the sky instead of just one.

Yes, one is left to wonder who exactly is running the Mayor's 'campaign' to keep the team here?

I blame Jerry Brown personally. He had a golden opportunity to push a stadium through at Uptown but opted instead to use that land to build hundreds of new condo units-which are near completion btw.

Instead of focusing on other sites, he just ignored the issue. Ron Dellums came along and did much of the same.

Now, Jean Quan first pushed for Victory Court and is now touting 'Coliseum City'(Which I believe is a pipe dream. Victory Court is WAY BETTER)

I have to agree that there is no clear direction or leadership whatsoever when it comes to Oakland's plan to keep the team, at least we dont know what it is. They seem like PR novices and that irks me.

One silver lining for Oakland is that its obvious that it appears MLB is in no rush at the moment, and quite frankly they really don't have a reason to be.

I am very worried however that we are quickly running out of time and luck on this and if we dont move fast and furious RIGHT NOW, it will be too late.

Oakland has proposed sites. Wolff just hates Oakland and wants out at any cost. He can forget San Jose and should sell the team. He's a scumbag. Once this falls through I'd like to see what city he moves to. Leaving the Bay Area because he cant' get his way down in San Jose. He'll probably move to some small market town in the Midwest and lose a bunch of fans.

Yeah, why doesn't he just take over land he doesn't own and build a stadium without studies done or permits issued! It's so simple!

No surprise a guy from San Jose is on the defensive and exaggerating. Look you're not getting the A's. So deal with it. When the city of Oakland proposed 3 sites Wolff wasn't even interested. He doesn't even interact with the fans and shows no effort to do anything to help the team get better unless they leave. He ignored the proposition and wanted to see what the MLB said about San Jose. Years later the idiot is still waiting.

Yeah, its unfortunate that Lew Wolff has made this so personal and is no longer simply a business move.

Oakland has plenty of viable sites that any other owner would gladly accept and develop, but Wolff just has dislikes Oakland. We know that based on his past comments.

And I dont think its just Wolff, I think its the league in general. They appear to have made up their minds and this would have been a done deal long ago were it not for concerted resistance not only from the City, but fans and now the SF Giants as well.

No surprise that a guy claiming "Wolff hates Oakland" has no sense of how the real world operates. The city proposed three sites (which you automatically assume are 100% sensible and feasible) to cover their ass and say "we tried."

That's precisely what Lew Wolff did when he put together a fake proposal to build a new stadium in Oakland....he deliberately put together an outlandishly impossible scheme knowing it would fail, just so he could then do what he's doing now....saying "We tried".

With all this time, Oakland is dealing more cards. The coliseum complex is another option for the A's.

The city has already received interest from six development teams to develop and manage the project and plans to interview the teams next month, Reid said. Kaplan also is working on scoring $40 million in funds from the Alameda County transportation plan. Because of its proximity to BART, rail, and Intertate 880, the site is what is known as transit-oriented development and is eligible for such funding.

Kaplan also said that the Coliseum sports village, also called Coliseum City, potentially could be built without redevelopment funds because the city and county already own all of the land. Cities typically need to purchase land using redevelopment funds to build sports facilities.

Kaplan also noted that the city has been buying up property around the Coliseum so that there is now plenty of land for an A's ballpark, a new football stadium for the Raiders, and new arena for the Warriors, plus a hotel, convention center, and a shopping district.

MLB knows the Oakland sites sounds much easier and better than the San Jose site.
