Bay Area transit in general has this problem. When bars/clubs and concerts let out, there should always be some reliable means at hand of getting home other than DUI.

BART needs to expand to Livermore. They have been paying for the BART taxes without reaping the benefits, and even getting from Livermore to Pleasanton by car takes a good long while. That being said, if they hadn't voted to build the Oak Bart connector, we'd be in better shape. I love Oakland Airport, but that is a true boondoggle.

Hey nobody forced them at gun point to live in Livermore. They knew what they were getting into when they bought that McMansion in the middle of nowhere.

Just think, a minor fraction of the "Train To Nowhere" would pay for it straight away.

What a boondoggle , yet no one seems to criticize this project unlike CAHSR , same with Central Subway boon.....both projects are horrible and the BART systems needs an overhaul not expansion outward. Thats why you have commuter rail which seems to be under-expanded yet decently used and cheaper to run.

I'm interested in the whole freeway vs downtown location debate. OF COURSE this is a commuter train so it should be by the freeway, just as Pleasantons is. Maybe an outdated idea but it's how the area was built and there is no going back in time to redo that. The idea that bulding it 'downtown' will make people less dependent on their cars is silly....most people don't live downtown and there is no place to put housing. They just wanted to put it there to bring tourist IN to spend $$ on the newly revitilized downtown area, and hopefully support a regional theater.

You're either a troll or a genuine moron. Clearing up the 580 is a bad thing? Less wear and tear on our freeways is a bad thing?

Which has no practical application here in the Bay Area.

I agree, it's not like Downtown Livermore is some large hub of housing, retail, and office space nor will it ever be. I'd be willing to bet a good chunk of commuters who would use a LIvermore BART station would come from the other side of the Altamont Pass too.

I think extending it to Livermore would be a much better use of transit funds than the Oakland Airport Connector and ESPECIALLY the "Central Subway".

Where exactly did I say that "clearing up the 580 is a BAD THING"? Do you have a quote for that or are you pulling random bull **** out of your ass because you can't think of a better argument? WTF are you talking about? Are you high?

Thats for sure. Then again, there are much larger cities in the Bay Area that don't have BART. Lets start with those first and work our way down the list based on potential ridership instead of whatever the politicians find convenient. Fat chance right?
