I feel like this discussion has been beaten to death in C&D. How many threads there are about moving from NYC to SF ? And every thread has the same discussion.

NYC = megapolis, hustling, bustling, restaurants, bars, clubs etc.
SF = some urban life + nature.

It is really simple and not that complicated.

Why don't you get into one of the Silicon Valley companies that has offices overseas. Either get in to one of the open overseas jobs and move right away, or get into the local office and then transfer later on? Lots of companies here have offices in other countries. Even the small startup I work at, we've got full time people working in Europe, India, Australia.

OK, we won't talk about NY guidos or Snookies invading our liberal, communist, pot-smoking, Santorum-hating dreck of a habitat.

Only in the US.

I can't speak for places that I don't know about.

Oh, would that we would enjoy the tweets extolling the wondrous virtues of Bhopal from our SV-hating compadre.

We are not yet worthy of such divine knowledge.

I was about to say, so thanks for bringing that up. I'm convinced, however, this is a US-centric discussion. When I moved from a huge Asian metropolis back to San Francisco it was torture. However, I wasn't sitting in my Outer Richmond apartment hating San Francisco. I just realized I needed a faster pace and then made the move. San Francisco is beautiful, but it's much slower than cities like NYC, Seoul and Tokyo. I pretty much needed help to come down off of being in a foreign city that was going pretty much 24/7.

I don't see why people can't simply appreciate NYC for what it is and do the same regarding San Francisco. If you don't like it, go. No one is making you stay.

Tech gods like hsw only have so many minutes a day to dispense wisdom to the homeless plebs of the so-called Bay Area. He's a very busy man who must dedicate his concentration to higher-level C+++++++ coding from behind the wheel of his Benz (built by German engineers who make over $200,000+ per annum in Germany) while driving at 90mph on 280.
