Hi,

I live in an apartment complex in Walnut Creek which has fairly dense trees & vegetation to one side - acts a privacy barrier for the neighboring houses.

All was good up until a month ago when a some unidentified bird decided to stake its claim & setup home in the aforementioned bushes, I have no problem with nature, but this from about 6am until the sun sets this thing lets out an ultra high pitched shriek literally every 30 seconds like clockwork & non stop - its like someone turning a hugh rusty iron wheel that squeaks, closing doors & windows or putting on headphones has zero efficiency at reducing the penetrating effect of what this dam bird can emit.

I work from home so this is doubly annoying.

Does anyone know if there are any city or county services who purpose is to deal with such wildlife issues?

There is no government agency that will eradicate wild life that is annoying. If anything, it's the other way around. The good news is that the bird will probably leave once spring is over. I suspect he or she is looking for a mate.

Your story reminds me of this one--similar sort of thing but with woodpeckers driving residents crazy...

Woodpeckers in a peck of trouble at Rossmoor

There are some tactics mentioned in the article which might be helpful for you to try.

I had a similar problem at my current rental. There was about 15 Turkey Vultures in the trees directly outside front door and they pooped EVERYWHERE. Anyhow my landlord tried calling agencies and they suggested blasting them with a hose at high pressure or tieing a hellium balloon to the branches (if possible)

I feel your pain
Good Luck!

There are ways to deter certain birds but you sort of have to know what you're dealing with. Mockingbirds and Kingbirds will attack cats and the latter will even go after hawks. Have you seen the bird?

Sounds much like the peacock issue in PVE. Pretty birds, but loud, crap everywhere, and hang around once they've found a favorite roof or porch.
