This is *spot on* about SF. Naming and describing exactly the things other people have talked about but couldn't quite put a finger on. Interesting (and largely true) rant.

God Damn SF Women SUCK (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/rnr/2973122861.html - broken link)

Hahaha.

I wouldn't say that criticism applies to just women, though. It seems to be pretty common with both men and women in college or just getting their first jobs.

And you wonder why there are such a high proportion of single women in SF. I'm glad I'm longer in the dating scene.

Like Goldenchild has said in other threads, there's San Francisco and then there's Frisco. Something tells me the guy who wrote that has not spent much time in the latter. Something also tells me that the same is true for him of Oakland, or should I say the Town... unfortunately I'm beginning to see that same duality on this side of the Bay Bridge, and it has nothing to do with the income or race of the wave of people moving in. It has everything to do with the mindset that he described pretty accurately.

Why do I suspect this guy's going to have the same problem six months after he moves to the East Bay? There's a hell of a lot of yuppies on the other side of the pond as well. Might be more hipsters in Oakland, but then I don't find them that interesting.

I liked it but didn't like the Anti-Republican bashing.

Exactly. When I read rants like this I just wonder has it ever occurred to the person that they might be part of the problem and are making bad choices in terms of where they hang out and who they're spending time with?

I've been back for a few months and I realized one way I was socializing just isn't doing it for me, so I've stopped. I wasn't meeting people I clicked with.

If I'm out with a group and I get the impression that someone is just stupid, I'll be civil but I'm not going to take the association any further than that. I'm sure not going to repeat the pattern until the point that I'm so frustrated that I've got to rant about it on CraigsList.

It just seems very passive-aggressive and whiny to hate on the entire city and claim that the promised land is the East Bay. I love it here, and am glad I chose it over the city but I go into the city to socialize too.

That's the first time I've ever heard anyone claim that S.F is full of conservatives and bible thumpers. I would think the opposite.
