MovingToSFO,

Why be scared? I've heard East Coast expats refer to SF as an East Coast city on the West Coast. Basically, they're right, even right down to the horn blowing as soon as the light turns green and the high bridge tolls.

The differences are obvious: more California license plates, more mild and foggy weather, warmer winters, more green space that is saved and utilized, and a somewhat newer feel compared to the old eastern cities. I've always heard that people in SF are nicer than the East Coast, but I don't find much difference at all. The roads are also slicker b/c of Gavin Newsom's hair gel (relax people, I know he's now Lt. Governor).

I live in suburbia and therefore like to have a little quiet. But I can walk to the BART station, take the train and be in "The City" in fifteen minutes.

You'll be fine. It really is one of the most beautiful cities in the country.

That's fantastic. I'm from there and my parents are still there. I live on campus, 20 minutes from home. I can't believe I'm even explaining this, it's so ridiculous...

My daughter went to Tyler School of Art when it was in Cheltenham but never listed her home as Cheltenham.

Not the point, there are good places in San Francisco just as there are good places in Philly, likewise with bad places. You can live in a good area and be totally unaware of the bad.

You're missing the point - dude thought you lived in a certain city because that's what your Location said, then you flipped out on him.

I didn't flip out on anyone. Sorry I didn't put an arrow in my location to make things easier for you...
