You're asking about good weed, but worried about gangs ? lol. Where do you think most weed comes from ?

Then you proceed to say:

lol. i dont dislike mexicans, i just dislike all the drug cartels, gangs,

Funny stuff.

Concord is very diverse--you wouldn't like it.

Concord seems like a typical 'Burb with a somewhat okay Downtown (only been there for Chuck E' Cheese).

The schools are subpar, so I think that keeps prices fairly low compared to other areas of the Bay Area. One cool thing is that Concord does have a BART station, so easy access to the city if you live there.

Doc, I see you live in Lafayette, another East Bay city I always liked. Lafayette, Walnut Creek (where I used to live) and Pleasant Hill, 3 of my favorites, as well as parts of Concord.

It sounds like you haven't actually been downtown since Chuck E Cheese isn't downtown.

Yup. I moved here before this real estate bubble turned the East Bay into places where the walls are made of Gold (or at least priced like they are). Picked up a few acres, and called it a day. Lafayette may be sparse in areas, and considered boring, but at my age that's just what I want.

Love Walnut Creek, where did you move to?

Concord has the same basic amenities that any other town has: movie theater, library, a small selection of mediocre restaurants, big indoor mall, bunch of car dealerships, etc. It has two BART stations and a very good hospital. There's Waterworld which is supposed to be a lot of fun though I've never been. Marijuana is available by quite a few delivery services but I would think most people go to the Oakland dispensaries (There are none in Contra Costa County). I would recommend Purple Heart Patient Center if you're looking for one. Concord feels like a pretty even mix of white trash and Hispanics with just the lightest sprinkling of people you'd actually want to hang out with. I'll take the average hard working Hispanic, even if I don't speak Spanish and they don't speak English, over my concealed gun toting neighbors who brag like it's cool about shooting deer in a local public park. There are some nicer parts of town but Concord has long committed itself to lower middle and low income people. As another poster said the schools are below average with lots of behavioral problems. The local politicians are bought and paid for by any party who will toss them a couple of bucks. There aren't many well paying jobs in Concord itself but you have adequate access to jobs in San Francisco and along the 680 corridor.

It boils down to this. You get attracted to the area because of the more or less reasonably priced housing and the area seems nice when you first move there then it rapidly gets on your nerves. Most of the people you meet who talk about how great the area is are long time residents who are remembering how Concord was instead of how it is.
