I'm on this one, for the same reasons stated. Also, Inner Sunset attractions add nearby charm and interest. Noe sure is pretty to look at, but it lacks quite a bit of the SF appeal that Cole Valley retains. I do hear that the "Cold Valley" name is justified, however.

Since I work in San Jose and on the peninsula, I'd go for West Portal over the others in a heartbeat for the quick access to 280. I've done the Lincoln/19th Ave thing and that was not fun.

The Haight, Inner Richmond, The Panhandle.

Great neighborhoods, lots to do, beautiful houses, great weather.

Whats not to love?

This is just for fun. You could live anywhere within one of those areas. Pretend money is not a factor -- we're just going by atmosphere, amenities, microclimate, etc., other factors that would contribute to your choice.
Noe Valley =)

I lived in Cole Valley for 10 or so years. It's nice. But the demographics changed substatially in the time I was there - less neighborhoody and more yuppie. Before anyone jumps down my throat about that, it has had some negative affects on the local businesses. The weather is very hit and miss. Transportation downtown is pretty good with the N and the 6.
