Was just curious as to what the best neighborhoods for artists/creative types would be? Maybe an area better suited for folks in their 30's +. Thanks.

How much money do these creative thirtysomething artists have? How much tolerance do they have for edgy neighborhoods? Is it important to be near stores, rail stations and bus lines? Depending on the answers to these, there are a number of reasonable possibilities.

Rockridge, the Temescal, Piedmont Ave, and Grand Lake. Also keep in mind there's the monthly Art Murmur event, which is really really cool and is held at a bunch of art studios in Uptown which is just north of downtown. There's several connected blocks with nothing but big art studios in warehouses, and tons of people wandering around looking at stuff, drinking beer, eating tamales, etc. You could live around there but it is a little rough around the edges.

FYI: Art Murmur has expanded to Jack London Square. And there is quite a bit of stuff around City Center. Oh and they have a "Saturday Stroll" too. And Piedmont Ave has a monthly "Art Walk" on a Thursday during the month.

That sounds about right. Add in Fruitvale and the warehouse loft areas of East Oakland.

Some actually get by selling their craft, the rest have day jobs just like anyone else.
