there is a home for sale in shepherds canyon for $430,000
the shepherds canyon area is very safe and the home is served by montclair elementary school which is rated 10/10 by best schools rating
6651 Gunn Dr, Oakland, CA 94611 - Zillow
the idea that this is a less desirable situation to raisea family than bayview/hunters point is absurd

bv/hp has street gangs and gangbangers in miami ,chicago and EVEN san francisco make money the same way

street gangs = drug dealing = guns

this is why bv/hp has a lot of homicides is not a desirable situation to raise children

these gang bangers have children and no one wants wants their pre-teen and teenage children running around the neighborhood with children whose parents are in gangs and in and out of prison.

if you don't have kids and don't mind living in a neighborhood with gangs, drug dealing and violence that is a personal choice.

Yes it's zoned to a good elementary school, but zoned to a bad middle, and high school. Also that home doesn't meet code and needs at least $85,000 in refreshing to be up to spec.

where did you get bthe information about codes and spec?
even if true but you at least get into a neighborhood where 75% of adults have educational attainment of either bachelor masters or doctorate
bayview is 15% bachelors degrees and above , there are gangs and the school prospects are worse as you don't even have a highly rated elementary school

Now we are talking about two different things. Bayview and Visitation Valley have come up because of my statement that I personally would prefer living in these neighborhoods instead of most parts of Oakland. If I had children, I wouldn't live in Bayview. I wouldn't live in San Francisco or Oakland for that matter. I'd choose somewhere like San Mateo, Burlingame, Foster City etc.

I'm not sure why we're comparing a neighborhood with $1,500,000 homes to the Bayview in S.F. That comparison seems pointless.

Yes according to the 2011 Census Estimates, Oakland has 4,600+ million-dollar homes. These are people who could live in SF or Berkeley or anywhere but CHOSE Oakland.

Wonder what those folks in those lonely units out by Candlestick do when Niner fan crime happens on that street, to say nothing of the raging traffic jams on game days? Go for a stroll to BV?
