Is there a possible telecommute option for either of you?

If you're only going into the office 2-3 days a week, that will help considerably with your personal life. When I had a clinic in Pleasanton, I had to get on the 680 from Lamorinda. Not exactly a great commute. Fortunately, I only went into the office 1-2 times a week, and my office in Concord around the same, and did a lot of work from home.

If you can setup a good home office with all the equipment you need, it will help out a lot.

Thank you, Doc. No telecommute possibility
this would have been a workable approach though..

is the commute from union city to novato possible with a chevy volt or prius plugin? i believe I get a car pool sticker for the next 2 years (after that it expires). I am willing to pay up the high car prices to keep this job and see my family.

That would indeed help you avoid the worst of the traffic in Hayward and Berkeley, but it's only a temporary patch. After 2 years, what then?

I agree..but 2 years seems a long time away (atleast from where I am now

Another option is for me to hop on Bart to Richmond and drive to Novato
I just need to figure out how to leave my car parked in Richmond BART in the night and weekend
It takes an hour to reach Richmond and 30min to Novato..one way
A total of 3 hrs commute each day!!

things I may have to do for a living these days
I cant seem to be able to get jobs easily!

thoughts or additional advice welcome on how to make this work

I am also trying Pacific or Milbrae as another person suggested....Seems like the commute on highway 1 thru the city and Sausalito could be very hard
