This is somewhat amusing just in a C-D sort of way. I remember mentioning in another thread that BART is at capacity and some thought I was nuts.

They clearly haven't seen cattle car commutes for themselves. Have you seen a SF/Daly City bound train by the time it gets to Oakland? Yikes.

Yeah, there was somebody who thought BART was a waste of money because "nobody rode it."

Even the Fremont to Richmond line (which doesn't go through the Transbay Tube to SF) is getting somewhat busy in the mornings - 8 cars SRO by Bayfair. Four years ago they used to be 6 car trains and you could find seats in the middle cars at Bayfair.

Perhaps we need another line that runs along 580 from Castro Valley up to and through Oakland?

They need to only run 10 car trains at rush hour, especially on the main lines through SF, and increase frequency a bit. I know they've been gradually cutting back on both of those things over the last 6 years, as well as on maintenance and cleaning. Ridership is probably going up because more people are moving to the East Bay, squeezed out of SF.

Coming home at 5pm to Oakland I never had trouble getting a seat at Montgomery. But going to SF on BART in the morning was always a drag, the trains would be standing room only, zero seats available. Probably a lot of people go into work around 730AM to 8 and leave later than I would, more like 6 to 8pm. I think they run fewer trains after 6pm than before it, and a few times I had to work late and left around 6 or 7 it was always really bad going back to Oakland compared to 5pm.
