Get a bicycle. With a username like "ajax82" you must be Dutch, right?

Nope, Ukrainian Renting a bike in SF is more expensive than a car! Wish I could take my carbon SCOTT beauty with me into Marin county…

Oh, BTW, switching a topic — any good spots for AM riding around SF? Maybe next time but still, any kind of trails maps etc.?

You can take BART to Castro Valley with your bike then ride to Lake Chabot, it's a couple miles from the station but pretty flat so it's easy. Around Lake Chabot there is a great variety in terrain. The lake itself has a paved path but if you venture off there are some great hills/dirt.

The shoreline is also pretty nice. It's more "tame" though. It's fun to be near the Bay though.

Maps

North Bay and Marin have nice areas too but I'm not familiar with them.
San Francisco Baytrail

I've done this ride, it was really nice but I'm not sure how you'd get to it without a car.

China Camp - Bay Area Mountain Bike Rides

Has a nice map with trails also. Hopefully this helps!

We moved from Ky to IN and took the test and got our in-state licenses with no problem.

We moved from IN to CA and made our appointment to go to the DMV to find out what was required. There were like 500 people there ...lines out the door into the parking lot, and we were like WTH?

We took the study books home, and as I was studying, I was like, "Did a five year old write these books on the law?"

We made another appointment to go back and take the test. Same scenario as described above. It was a zoo!

We both took the test and then sat in chairs and watched as people over and over were told that they had failed. We were both freaking. Then we were both told that we had passed. Thank DoG!

I cannot imagine taking the test if you are from another country ... but then, maybe hubby and I are too small town, and expected the study books to be written where they are intelligent and in sinc with the laws.

Good luck! Jules

And ditto to what others said about Vegas! There is no need for a car there if you're staying along the strip .... you can walk or bus everywhere!

HUGz! Jules

As someone else stated, FEDEX takes one day. Less time than trying to arrange some other type of situation.

More to this story I bet.
