Default Livermore Wine Festival

We're less than three weeks away from the move, and I saw a mention of the Livermore Wine Festival in one of my emails. My Mom is trying to figure out when to come for a visit.

Is the Festival big? Fun? Is it sprawled out between the wineries, or is it a downtown function?

Thanks bunches! Jules

The Wine Festival happens in the summer in downtown Livermore. A few streets are closed off and tents are set up mainly on first and second streets (along with some side streets). This event doesn't take place at the wineries. Last year there lots of food trucks, beer and wine booths, arts/craft, sale of local goods and activities for children (second st). It is a fun event for the whole family.

The Harvest festival takes place in the wineries during labor day weekend.
31st Annual Harvest Wine Celebration - Labor Day Weekend (Sunday & Monday) Sunday, September 2, 2012 - Monday, September 3, 2012 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM | Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association

Each of the wineries also have their own events schedule throughout the year so there is always something happening in the wineries in Livermore

There was at least one year when it was blazing hot and I couldn't deal with it. Wine + heat = NO. Usually it's ok.

I remember going on a bus about six or seven years ago that took you to all the wineries in Livermore, including Wente, and you could taste to your little hearts's desire all the wine you wanted since you didn't have to worry about driving. It was a very happy crowd on the bus . I would highly recommend that option if it is still available. Enjoy!

I agree with Oreo's Mom. The wine tours are the way to go and then as you get familiar you can explore on your own. Plus you being new here it might not be a bad way to meet people.
