Got Laid off
Hi Everyone! I'm in California. I got laid off from my job of 8 months. Do you know If I can get Unemployment benefits even if I only work for 8 months?

You have to have worked for at least 6 months so you should be fine.

Agreed. The tricky part is the "base" year period they use for calculating benefits usually begins 15 months prior to the day you apply. In other words, if you just got laid off in Jan 2013 your "base" will be Oct 2012 thru Sept 2012, giving you just 4 months of income to base benefits on. You many not have the earnings to get a whole lot but file anyway. |
