I've always thought it was kind of borderline - it's sort of in its own little valley but if you discount that bit of the Bay that juts eastward it is continuous with the greater Central Valley.

Not even close. Generally that area is called the Diablo Valley as Mt. Diablo is nearby. There are hills to the east and Highway 4 inclines after Concord as you head into Pittsburg/Antioch. Concord is a Bay Area suburb. You ask that question about Tracy, you'd get many to agree as it is east of the Altamont pass but don't think anyone would call Concord the Central Valley. I think of the central valley as the 5/99 corridor from Sacramento down to Bakersfield

No. Geographically, Brentwood is right on the edge of the Central Valley where it runs into the Sacramento delta.

Looks and feels like the Central Valley to me. It takes forever to drive out there. When I was looking at properties, just going from Lafayette to Concord took 20 minutes.

Well you live in LA and know nothing about the Bay Area, that's probably why. Stick to what you know.

Also it should never take more than 15 min tops if that to drive from Lafayette to Concord unless there is heavy traffic.

LOL what difference does it make you said 15 I said 20. By the way I'll be in Berkeley soon and already own a few properties in the Bay Area so I'll be your neighbor.

Looks, feels, acts, smells, etc. nothing like the Central Valley. Hell, look at a map.

Go spend some time in Modesto or Visalia and tell me that Concord is in the same boat... not even close.
